Continuing on from the Palestine Book Awards Nominee, The Girl Who Stitched the Stars, Palestinian girl, Noor will embark on her last outing for the series. Noor will return to Palestine to discover a place she will always belong.

This book sees Noor return to her roots to cement her belonging in the land she and many others throughout the diaspora call home.

Palestinian Novel Release-Yassini Girls

Yassini Girls my fourth novel (suitable for YA and above) will be published this Spring/Summer.

Based on my appearance on the BBC film documentary, The Holy Land and Us; Our Untold Stories, (now showing on BBC iplayer), this novel is a semi-autobiographical account of this journey.

After discovering my family history through the documentary, I wanted the opportunity to explore how this film and the discovery of my family links to Palestine’s Nakba back in 1948 changed everything. For my whole life, I believed that my Tata was born, raised and lived in Ariyah (Jericho) but after she passed away, I was told that that wasn’t the full truth. After revealing this on The Today Show, I was contacted by a film director and so the journey to the truth began.

Understanding this journey is now as critical as ever with the current events in Gaza and Palestine, this book endeavors to tell others about Palestine’s past, present and our future and how our history shapes our future.

It is needed now more than ever

It has now become an absolute necessity to understand Palestine and its history, people, and its future. We need to share Palestinian voices wide and far, in schools, libraires, on our social media. This call to action could not come at a more crucial time as we are witnessing genocide on a daily basis. I hope that the release of another two books into the world will add to an arsenal of literature that is needed to help counter the bias of the western media, which has been responsible for adding to the dehumanisation of Palestinians, and Muslims worldwide to the point where genocide is being aided and allowed by the international community. Our voices and our choices can make a difference.

Truth is on the side of the oppressed.
